What are the Best Online Trading Sites?

The best online trading site is a subjective matter. This is my blog so I’m going to give you my opinion on a few of my favorite online trading sites. Keep in mind that you may have different tastes or different needs from your broker. The best online trading site for me may not be the best for everyone.
ThinkorSwim
These guys really have there stuff together. If I had to package all of the qualities of a good broker into a final product, this would be very close to my idea of a perfect broker. First of all, they offer a free desktop trading software package that is tremendous. This is the kind of software package that companies charge a pretty penny for you to buy or use. I can’t say enough about how customizable the ThinkorSwim stock trading software is. If I had paid attention in my college computer programming classes I could get even more out of the software. It has a very unique feature that allows you to create your own code based on the parameters you would like to follow. Anything from trading volume to Fibonacci retracements…. and you can customize everything. ThinkorSwim definitely gets my vote for the best online trading software. The pricing structure is competitive, and offers various pricing models depending on the needs of the user. Overall I give these guys a great score.
Trade King
Trade King is another online discount broker that I have been satisfied with. The $5 trades and $0.65 option contracts were a perfect fit for me. The charting package is lacking on this site though, so I would never call Trade King the best online trading broker. They do have a fantastic amount of learning material available in the education section. Trade King brings in speakers from different sectors of the financial investment world to give webinars. All of this educational material is fantastic for the stock trading beginner. They have also gone out of their way to make the site feel more like a community. There is a section on the site for people to share their thoughts on the market and to share thoughts on certain stocks. Even without the best analytical software, Trade King is a quality broker.
Scottrade
I like the charting package better than Trade King but not nearly as much as ThinkorSwim. The pricing is also a little bit higher at Scottrade. I think the reason I have included them on this list is the ability to go into a local office if you have questions. They maintain many offices across the United States and it is sometimes reassuring to be able to go in and talk to a human being about your stock trading account.
