Practice Stock Trading for 2010
Dec 26th, 2009
With the new year just around the corner, I think it would be a good time to set some stock trading goals for 2010. Hopefully the only use I’ll have for my brand new heart monitor is to maximize my exercise time. I don’t want to have to monitor my stress while trading stocks. That’s one of the big reasons I’m going to implement a stock trading practice plan for the new year.
I’ve been practicing my stock trades for quite some time, but I’ve noticed that lately I’ve been more inclined to just open up the order window and make trades based on what I’ve had success with in the past. I’ve come to a point of stagnation in my stock trading. It’s time to ramp up the practice schedule and use some new technical indicators.
New Year’s Practice Goal #1
I’m going to spend at a minimum 2 hours per week testing out new day trading strategies. This is really not a lot of time when I put it down on paper, and I know it will show me some new techniques. These 2 hours must be broken up into at least 2 sessions. I want to expand my stock trading practice routine to include different days of the week. We have all seen the differences in trading a Monday morning compared to the lunch hour on a Wednesday. If I can devote a couple of hours a week I know that by summer 2010 I will have a whole new bag of tricks for trading the stock market.
Practice Stock Trading Goal #2
I find that I absorb new trading methods more quickly when I have someone to bounce ideas off of. I’m going to make a concerted effort to test my new strategies on my own, but also discuss them with other people. I’m going to go from a forum lurker to a participant. I want to get some feedback on some of my new ideas. Of course I’ll just ramp up the discussion with my Pops. I would suggest that everyone have someone to learn new ideas with/from. If you don’t have a trading partner, maybe signing up for a practice stock trading course would be an option. Take a look a what financial management options your broker has. Or you could just start the conversation here in the comments!
I’d like to wish everyone reading this blog a happy holiday season! May 2010 be the best stock trading year yet.
